Fresh Herb, Peppermint
(Mentha x piperita)

Complimenting other plants in the herb garden, Peppermint offers a refreshing, minty flavor and aroma.  Traditionally used to flavor the mint sauce that accompanies a lamb dish but also used in drinks, baked goods and as potpourri.  Purple stems anchor purplish green leaves that have distinct veining and toothed edges. Small pinkish white flowers appear in mid to late summer.  Very easy to grow and maintain so it is best grown in a container as it can quickly take over the garden!  Thrives in consistently moist soil.

Harvesting:  Cut off tips of stems and use fresh.  Leaves do not dry well.
