A lush plant for a colorful accent or as a large hedge, this 2 toned tropical shrub can be trimmed to maintain a desired shape or size. Its mature dark green glossy leaves are wavy and heavily thick almost like a leathery feeling, which first emerge as bright yellow, turning to green with age. An older plant often retains a splash of yellow on its sturdy strong foliage. Small inconspicuous yet fragrant white flowers are followed in late season as inedible dark berries, providing food for birds and other wildlife. Prefers full sun for best foliage color but will do well in part shade. If left untrimmed, the evergreen plant will grow to be 7-10 ft tall by 6-8 ft. W, space 3 ft apart for most hedge plantings. Outdoor hardy in USDA Plant Zones 7-10. Considered drought tolerant once established.
