A virtually stemless, uprightly mounding plant that features a rosette of long and wide (usually 30 in. x 4 in.) rigid sword-shaped leaves, with each 1 having curly white fibrous threads along its leaf margins. An extremely eye-catching landscape accent, the leaves of 'Color Guard' are variegated with striking creamy gold centers and green edges. Foliage grows to about 2 ft. to 3 ft. T and wide, yet in late spring, its attention-getting white bloom stalks can stand 5 ft. to 8 ft. T. Grows in almost any soil, tolerating sandy, poor, heat, drought and salt spray locations. A sunny site is best for brightest foliage color. Deer tend to avoid this plant.
